CBD Isolates vs Full Spectrum CBD vs Broad Spectrum CBD

This is so confusing, Can Someone Help? What's the difference?

CBD Isolates vs Full Spectrum CBD

What is the difference between a Full Spectrum CBD oil and CBD Isolate?

Once you understand the difference between these two, you’ll be much more knowledgeable to make an educated decision on what CBD oil you require for your needs.

The differences summarized below relate to the Hemp plant only:

Full Spectrum CBD Oil

Full Spectrum CBD oils are sometimes also labeled as “Whole Plant."   Full Spectrum products not only contain CBD, but also terpenes (which differ by strain- examples of strains: Pineapple Express, Blueberry Kush, Sour Diesel) and sometimes other cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN and THC. The terpenes are usually added back into and oil in naturally occurring ratios to raise the potency of the product.  The cannabinoids, terpenes, and other elements of the plant have an enhanced effect when they work together synergistically.

If you are getting drug tested, Full Spectrum should be taken with the caution that as there are traces of THC usually found in these hemp products which in theory could cause possibly cause positives in sensitive tests.  The trace amount of THC would still be at or below the limit of 0.3% as required by law for Industrial Hemp.

Now the positive advantage you will find with Full Spectrum CBD products is that CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes work together, to cause an interaction something that CBD isolate products will have a lack of.  Hence the term you will see widely used, the full spectrum CBD has an “entourage effect.”

Broad Spectrum CBD Oil

You will find some products that are “Broad Spectrum” and that may be advertised as 0% THC. These full spectrum products may go through additional dispensation to remove the traces of THC while maintaining the other levels of CBD and terpenes.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolates are a common choice for those that get drug tested or are sensitive to products such as THC. These are usually labelled as 99+% pure CBD. These products will solely have CBD in them as they have gone through thorough processing to isolate this CBD from everything else.

CBD Terpisolates

Another important note is that there are other products on the market that are called “Terpisolates.” these are CBD isolates which are infused with terpenes. These products give an enhanced effect over just CBD Isolate alone, depending on the terpenes that are used.

Which is Better – CBD Full Spectrum or CBD Isolate?

There are various debates on which is better.  Ultimately, it’s what you’re looking for. We are all different and we all seek different things for our body. Each individual user has their needs i.e. if drug testing or a sensitivity is a concern you may side with CBD Isolates over a Full Spectrum.  You may want to try several different types of CBD products or try it in ex) tinctures or edibles, to see what works best for you.
